Di bawah kepemimpinan Rektor Prof. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos., M.Si., kampus ini terus melahirkan riset dan karya yang memberi manfaat nyata bagi masyarakat dan lingkungan.<\/p>\n<p>Melansir <a href=\"https:\/\/sawitindonesia.com\/inovasi-usu-ubah-pelepah-sawit-dan-daun-pepaya-menjadi-wadah-makanan-ramah-lingkungan\/\"><em>sawitindonesia.com<\/em>,<\/a> sekelompok mahasiswa USU berhasil menciptakan kemasan makanan ramas:\/\/pkt-group.com\/sawitnoth lingkungan sebagai alternatif pengganti styrofoam. Produk inovatif tersebut diberi nama Bioflaeis, singkatan dari <em>Biofoam <\/em><a href=\"httpif\/penyebab-patah-pelepah-sawit-dan-cara-mengatasinya\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><em>Pelepah Sawit<\/em><\/a><em> dan Daun Pepaya<\/em>, hasil dari Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa-Kewirausahaan (PKM-K).<\/p>\n<p>Tim kreator terdiri atas Shintia Florensia Silaban, Yeggin Damanik, Feodora Nicole Holongy Sitompul, dan Gita Triani Sinaga dari Fakultas Teknik Kimia, serta Letminda Oftavya Purba dari Ekonomi Pembangunan, dengan bimbingan dosen Ir. Ilham Perkasa Bako, S.T., M.T.<\/p>\n<p>Gagasan ini muncul dari kepedulian terhadap meningkatnya jumlah sampah plastik sekali pakai di Indonesia, terutama <em>styrofoam<\/em> yang dikenal sulit terurai dan mengandung bahan berbahaya. Melihat hal itu, para mahasiswa mencoba memanfaatkan limbah pertanian yang kerap terbuang, seperti pelepah kelapa sawit yang kaya selulosa dan hemiselulosa, serta daun pepaya yang memiliki kandungan antibakteri alami.<\/p>\n<p>Kombinasi kedua bahan tersebut menghasilkan Bioflaeis, kemasan makanan yang mudah terurai (<em>biodegradable<\/em>), aman bagi kesehatan, dan mampu menjaga kualitas daya simpan makanan. Inovasi ini tak hanya mengurangi ketergantungan terhadap plastik, tetapi juga memberi nilai tambah bagi limbah pertanian.<\/p>\n<p>Melalui pendekatan ilmiah dan semangat kewirausahaan, tim berharap Bioflaeis menjadi lebih dari sekadar produk, melainkan gerakan sosial yang menumbuhkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya gaya hidup ramah lingkungan.<\/p>\n<p>Dosen pembimbing Ir. Ilham Perkasa Bako mengapresiasi keberhasilan mahasiswa bimbingannya tersebut. Menurutnya, Bioflaeis menunjukkan bagaimana kreativitas mahasiswa mampu menggabungkan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, dan kebutuhan masyarakat. \u201cDari bahan yang sering dianggap sampah, mereka mampu menciptakan produk bernilai tinggi yang berdampak positif bagi lingkungan,\u201d ujarnya.<\/p>\n<p>Produk Bioflaeis kini mulai dipasarkan melalui media sosial dan promosi langsung ke pelaku UMKM kuliner, kafe, dan restoran. Strategi ini menyasar konsumen muda dan pelaku usaha yang mulai beralih ke produk berkelanjutan. Tim juga berencana memperluas kerja sama dengan pelaku industri dan masyarakat lokal agar inovasi ini bisa berkembang lebih luas.<\/p>\n<p>Rektor USU Prof. Muryanto Amin menyambut baik keberhasilan mahasiswa tersebut. Ia menegaskan bahwa perguruan tinggi memiliki tanggung jawab membentuk generasi muda yang tidak hanya unggul secara akademik, tetapi juga peduli terhadap isu global seperti lingkungan dan perubahan iklim.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInovasi seperti Bioflaeis merupakan bukti nyata bahwa mahasiswa USU mampu menghadirkan solusi bagi persoalan masyarakat sekaligus berkontribusi pada pembangunan berkelanjutan,\u201d tuturnya.<\/p>\n<p>Ke depan, USU berkomitmen terus mendukung riset dan inovasi mahasiswa agar semakin banyak lahir gagasan yang membawa manfaat bagi bangsa dan lingkungan.
